Kaz is both PC and Mac literate and is conversant with numerous graphic design and layout applications, including the Adobe CS3 Suite, Quark Xpress, Corel Draw, and PageMaker, as well as Microsoft Office 2007.

Kaz works with professionalism, accuracy and integrity, enjoys a challenge and never quits till the job is done right, on time and on budget. Kaz strives to offer her clients the best service possible, offering advice and solutions to any graphic and website problems they encounter, as well as creating quality designs.

Supporting important causes

Kaz also has a sense of community spirit and felt honoured to be part of the Acton Leathertown Festival Committee in 2004 and 2005 as Media Co-ordinator, and after moving to Cambridge continued to design their ads for the 2006 festival. Money raised from the annual festival supports local organizations such as the Off The Wall youth centre.

Also that year, Kaz became involved in The Weekend to End Breast Cancer, walking 60 km in Toronto and raising over $2100 for breast cancer research, care and education. In 2007, she and her partner continued fundraising, and between them raised $28,000 and walked in 7 Weekend events across Canada.

Kaz continued fundraising and supporting The Weekend to End Breast Cancer  (now  known as the Weekend to End Women’s Cancers) throughout 2008 and in 2009 she and her partner took part in the Toronto Weekend again.

In 2009 they also participated in the Ride to Conquer Cancer, a 200 km bike ride from Toronto to Niagara Falls. Together they raised another $12,000 towards finding a cure for both breast cancer and colon cancer.

In 2010, their journey continued with the Ontario and Quebec Rides and the Toronto walk, as well as several other charitable events. By the end of 2010, the couple raised over $54,000 for breast cancer research, care and education, over $15,000 for colorectal cancer research, and several dollars for other charities.

Kaz Design Works donated more than 10% of its profits in its first year of business to the Weekend to End Breast Cancer and pledges to donate at least 5% of business profits each year to cancer research. As a client you too will be helping to find a cure for cancer. Kaz Design Works has also donated its time by providing designs for www.thinkpinkdirect.com, a not-for-profit site that supplies pink ribbon products to fundraisers, as well as other promotional material to help with Karen’s own fundraising efforts.

In 2010, Kaz Design Works designed and sponsored the website for Power of H.O.P.E., a team of local fundraisers that collect items, such as pyjamas, toileteries and towels, for low income families in the community and around the world.
